...even though these may sound obvious or downright dumb, trust us, it pays you to
check...
Top Ten: Pre-call Checklist
1. Is there power to the equipment?
2. If there are on-off switches, and are they on?
3. If there are electrical plugs, is the equipment plugged in?
4. If there are transformers, are they plugged in? Leads secure?
5. Have you checked fuses or circuit
breakers?

6. If phone lines are involved, are the phone lines plugged into the jacks?
7. Have you had a telephone technician or electrician working on anything in
proximity to the system?
8. If you have a PC based control system, have you shut everything down
completely (30 seconds completely off) and rebooted?
9. If you have a WAN/LAN system, have you confirmed your connection is active,
without doubt?
10. Have you checked the physical connections?
